  • Whenever you're ready to start pumping do so...it never hurts to have extra milk on hand!

If you have a double electric pump - pump both sides after you're done breast feeding - this tell yous body to make more milk, and since you're pumping right after you've breastfed - you don't need to worry about not having enough milk for your next feeding.

Put everything you pump into the freezer (if you're storing for later on when you're back at work). Breast milk last in a deep freezer 6-12 months and in a standard freezer (fridge on bottom freezer on top) for about 3 months.

I've meet some women who pumped and breastfed like crazy while they were home for the first 8-12 weeks and have had freezers filled with milk that lasted for months after they went back to work.

My first I stayed home and stored some.....With my second I went back to work after 11 weeks. I started storing as soon as my milk started coming in good. I would feed him on one side and pump the other then next time switched sides.....this helped my production increase.....It freezes for upto 6 months and believe me when sitter comes in it will seem to dwendle! Good Luck!
