Community College in 1 year? NEED HELP/ADVICE!?

I'm a high school senior with a decent number of AP credits hoping to go through a year at a community college and then transfer to UCLA.

How many units would I get for each of the following:

-AP Psychology

-AP U.S. History

-AP Environmental Science

-AP English Language

-AP European History

-AP Government

-AP Macroeconomics

-AP Art History

-AP Calculus AB

I've been researching majors and admit rates and Pre-med options and I want to know what your thoughts are on this potential plan:

I've looked thru majors that would truly interest me and that have decent acceptance rates and would still allow me to embark on a pre-med route & I found Anthropology B.A. as my top choice right now.

I used assist.org and got this:

====Anthropology/B.A.====

Listed below are the lower division preparation courses for the major. You

should complete as many preparation courses as possible prior to transfer, based

on the availability of courses. All courses must be taken for a letter grade.

For more information regarding this major and UCLA's transfer selection process,

visit UCLA Department of Anthropology and UCLA Undergraduate Admissions.

PLEASE NOTE: The community college courses listed below have been approved to

satisfy the preparation requirements for this major at UCLA, but they

may not be exact equivalents of the UCLA courses listed.

Congratulations on your success so far- sounds like you have already made a good dent in your college work. I think the best people to ask this question would be the registrar or admissions at UCLA, or the anthropology department head. I'm not sure if the AP credits transfer directly to UCLA or indirectly via the community college. Seems it would be most efficient if you could see if they would transfer directly, then you would know those were out of the way.

How the sciences are classified depends on the school requirements. A lot of schools require so many credits in a "lab" science- doesn't matter if it is bio, chem, physics, etc. Others (or your major) may specifically require a biological science. The social and behavioral science requirement also will depend on UCLA's requirements, so talking with them before you enroll, to make sure the course will transfer to an equivalent core class is a good idea, though choosing humanities courses among different disciplines is usually a safe bet. They often want them to be across different departments so it is probably a good idea to avoid areas you have the AP credit in (history, political science, economics, psychology) and choose new areas like sociology, philosophy, etc.

In my experience, the community college year (or 2) is a good time to get core classes out of the way; math, english, lab science, foreign language if required. Usually the first-year courses in your major will transfer also, and since they will probably be prerequisites for more advanced courses, it is good to get them done too, so you are not behind in your major coursework due to lack of prerequisites later.

14 credits is a fairly light load; not saying that is a bad thing, if you want to really focus on those classes or if you have an outside job. You could consider adding 1 more class in the fall; it sounds like you are used to working hard. Or you could leave it at that and see how your first semester goes. The typical load is 15 credits, and most programs require a total number of credits to graduate that averages to about 15 per semester. However your summer classes and AP credit will make up for this.
