Will this work with the usb port in a 2012 Dodge Charger?
I recently purchased a 2012 Dodge Charger and it has a USB port that I can plug a thumb drive into with music on it. I was wondering if a Western Digital - My Passport Essential 500GB External USB 3.0/2.0 Portable Hard Drive model number WDBACY5000ABK-NESN would work the same way? How much would heat/cold affect it if I left it in the car 24/7? What other concerns should I have with doing this?
Thanks for your help,

One of these will stand up to the 130+ degree heat in a car. 128GB ea.

Easy enough to find out. Plug it in and see what happens. It'll either work or it won't. That said, I wouldn't make a habit of it even if it does work. Hard drives (especially Wester Digital) are not as physically robust as solid state thumb drives. Temperature cycling and vibration are likely to kill it long before its time.
Besides, thumb drives are dirt cheap. You can get 4Gb for $5 or $10, and put a few days worth of music on it.

it should work ok, but don't leave it in the car. hard drives, even nice fancy external ones with big cases, are very sensitive to temperature, and you could end up shortening its life.
