Men - calling a girl "dude"?
Today I was talking with this guy in one of my college classes in the hallways before class started. We had been there a while and were having a really nice talk. Then all of the sudden he called me "dude" which he apologized for saying right after he said it. It really didn't bother me, but it did get me thinking...I've heard guys call other girls "dude" before and always thought it was a little odd (that's more of something guys would say to eachother, in my opinion). Anyways, my question is, is there anything that can be assumed when a man calls a woman dude? Is it disrespectful, a sign that he thinks of her like one of the guys, is comfortable around her, etc. or is it just the way certain people talk? Any thoughts? Do you ever call a woman that?
In my case, I don't really know the guy very well at all. He has been in my class a couple months, but until the chat we had the other day, we really hadn't said too much to eachother, just small talk and a little work on a group project. He's not like a close friend or anything.

When guys are comfortable around certain people they tend to act a certain way. For an instance when u hang out with Friends u tend to act a little different compared to when u find someone attractive. Because you try to impress the guy/girl, compared to hanging out with friends and not caring. By calling you a dude, it shows a degree of comfortableness. But he immediately apologized for it, showing that he thinks of you as not only a close friend but maybe as something more.
Its weird, but i call my close friends regardless of gender dude, bro, Baroda, and other slang's because they are close to me and it dosent matter what i call them.In my personal experience I would say that he thinks of u as a close friend and didn't want to offend you.

the place do you get this concept from? people communicate over with men and girls folk as "youthful guy" or "youthful woman" from fairly lots the comparable age. After that, they are women and adult men people. from time to time women all of us is declared as females, merely as adult men are mentioned as boys. it is merely the way issues are; it is not any distinctive for the two gender.

They just don't know how to talk to you. So they call you dude. Its how they talk to each other. Dude this and dude that. If you don't like it then just stay away from them. Eventually they'll learn how to talk to you in a way that you like.

I think it just means he's comfortable with you. In a very casual situation I'll call one of my friends-that-are-girls "dude." It just depends on the guy. I just say "dude" a lot. xD But the fact that he apologized was probably him making sure you weren't offended by it.
