Why is there a fox or somthing scratching outside my wall at night?

Outside my room there is a gap next to a big wall and at the top of the wall is a car park i could not get into this gap because its small.

Sometimes at night there is a heavy scratching noise, its really loud so i guess its a fox.

Why is it scratching at the wall? I have to bang the wall to make it stop.

Update:

You can not look down the gap it goes in because ontop of the wall brick slabs are connected to the roof of my room for about 10 meters then the gap opens up so that must be why it goes there.

But why does it scratch the wall?

Are you sure that it is not mice or rats inside the wall? Have you seen footprints outside by your wall?

Mice inside of a wall can be very noisy.

Probably trying to hibernate or make room for birth or home. Who knows. Call animal control.

its probably a raccoon if there any garbage he will go out there and snoop in the trash foreverrrr we have them in my complex and we have to make sure we close the lid on the can or else they will make so much racket...and a total mess.

Oh its not a fox. Its the Jewpacabra. It wants to convert you to Judaism, or eat your spleen.

It just wants to give you loves. And of course feast on your tender human flesh, but only after giving you loves of course.
