Severe menstrual cramps help!!:(?

Okay so my period just started about 2am which was an hour ago... I was sleeping and like always as soon as my period comes on the pain automatically wakes me up!!! I went to see a doctor a few months and she prescribed me something called Catalam dispersible which is dissolved in water. I tried it but never worked, I tried drinking tons of water never worked, I took probably all the midol brands never work, I took Advil still no luck, I drank ginger tea no luck so about 9 months ago I went to the dentist got a tooth in the back pulled out and was prescribed some ibuprofen 800 mg painkillers and I tried taking them and I swear they worked miracles for me but only a few left and no refills:( is this pill safe to take?? I'm 18 years of age also I'm wondering if there's any other method to try if I do about 50 jumping jacks a day will that help toward the cramping???? My cramps are so severe that I can't walk. I was thinking of birth control but still don't no:( Do you know any natural home remedies that works well??? Now im feeling shocking pains in my vagina feels as if someone is shoving a knife up there and turning it all of this is from my period i'm not sexually active. When i tell my mom take me to the doc for my period all she says is go take some advil :| after repeating myself to her five thousand times telling her its not working.

Update:

Hotwater dont work

Warm towels don't work

Laying down makes it worst.

So sorry to hear your menstrual cramps are so severe! I've interviewed hundreds of women and girls about this and I hope I can help you with yours.

First off, most girls said ibuprofen did work best. If you really need it you can take four regular ibuprofen which would be 800 mg. This could be bad if you take them all the time but occasionally for your cramps should probably be okay.

I see heat doesn't seem to be your thing. Strange as it was the number one method of relief for most girls. I'll list a few other remedies that many girls said worked for them.

Ice: Most girls with severe cramps used this. They said it was all that would help, amube that will be your remedy too. If you have an ice bag/pack use that. If not you can put ice cubes in a washcloth then on your stomach or you can do what most girls did and use a bag of frozen veggies like peas or corn.

Exercise: Not many did 50 jumping jacks...lol, but many did mild exercise like walking, stretching, Yago, even bellydancing moves like belly rolls or flutters, if you can do those. Almost any exercise to gently get your abdominal area active may help.

Pressure: Many girls found applying some type of pressure to their stomach helped quite a lot. Some lay on their back and press or massage their abddomen deeply. Ut's even better if you can get someone to do it for you...lol. Some placed weights of some type such as books on their stomach also. Others preferred to lay on their stomach on something like a rolled up towel, blanket, ball, even their own hands to add some pressure. Really anyway you can figure out to put some pressure on it.

Foods: I see tea doesn't work for you so I'll skip that but sometimes eating foods high in potassium, like bananas for example, can help your cramps. Try and stay away from greasy, heavy, salty foods duing your period. This can cause your belly to bloat and you know that won't be good for your cramps...lol.

Ointments: Lots of girls got help by rubbing ointments on their lower abdomen. They used ointments such as Tiger Balm, Icy Hot, Ben Gay, etc. There are many on the market. If you do decide to try these just test tham on a small area of skin before rubbing all over your belly. It may cause a bad reaction and you don't need that on top of such bad cramps!

There's also birth control pills. I just mention it as it worked VERY well for most girls. I know it's not for eveyone though. Just wanted to cover all the bases...lol.

Well. hopesomething in here can ease your cramping some anyway. Good luck! :)

I feel so bad for you!! Okay, home remedies... Laying down with your feet a little elevated, put something warm on your stomach. It is very comforting and does make the cramps ease a little. If you can, whenever, go for a walk because exercise does help but calm and soft exercise is best. East healthily, during your period you will crave fatty and bad foods but try to replace them with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Ask the doctor to do some tests, some women (even young and not sexually active) can have cysts or other issues in their ovaries, tubes and vagina that cause severe cramps. The pill is supposed to help, my sister takes it because she got severe cramps and now she is fine.

Tell your mom that it's not just cramps, tell her it is extreme and if you must cry in front of her! No girl should have to suffer through pain when they get their period so make her get you some pain killers any way you can!

Also, get fresh air and try to smile. Like any other thing, if you are sad and you act sad it makes it worse so try to breathe in air and think about happy things while eating something sweet and healthy to make yourself forget about the pain!

Good luck sweetie, I hope you feel better soon xx

I had the same thing. Nothing would work. I had some pretty strong prescription pain killers, and even that didn't help. Talk to the doctor about birth control. I finally got on it after years of suffering. It has helped TREMENDOUSLY. I only get minor cramps ever 2 or 3 months. It also helps with the moodiness of having a period. Good luck!

I also get this type of period pain, and i find that 'Nurofen period pain' works wonders, i just keep pakets handy, and have also gone onto the pill which over time has reduced the pain, something you should definatly consider for the long run :)

I thought it was just me who thought ibuprofen worked wonders .. I also had a tooth out and blah blah blah ... What you could do is go to the doctor alone .. they will prescribe you the ibuprofen.

    How old at you ?
