I missed my period while on birth control?

I started birth control last Monday and was supposed to start that same Friday or Saturday. Could the birth control really cause me to miss my periods only if I was taking it for 4 days?

Yeah, it totally can. Right before your period starts your progesterone levels drop like a rock, which tells your body "Nope, no baby this month... shed that uterine lining and let's start fresh." But you threw that cycle off and started adding artificial progesterone to your system right when it should be falling, so it thinks "Hey, we might have a baby in here! Let's not shed that lining after all!"

That said, a lot of women in your situation would have gotten at least some spotting. So if pregnancy is a possibility, take a home test, just to be on the safe side.

Birth control pills give you hormones and tricks your body into thinking it is pregnant, that's how they work. You should read about the type you are on, so that you know what to expect. This is your body and anything you put in it, you should know the effects of it...........
