What's going on today!?!?

Freakin' earthquakes, tornadoes, power outages everywhere today! Esp. in Utah man we had a helluva ride for this place!

What's going on???

Update:

Sure it's simple, but I'm speaking from my own experience. I have heard my local news channel mention some stuff, but mostly it's all from my friends and contacts....

Nothing is going on that is out of the ordinary, really. Earthquakes are actually quite common in the US:

In fact, some of the strongest earthquakes in US history haven't occurred in the west, but originated in the New Madrid, MO area:

I will add that earthquakes have nothing to do with the weather. Earthquakes are geological events, not meteorological ones.

As far as tornadoes, this past winter we were in a strong La Nina cycle. Coupled with the position and strength of the Polar Vortex (positive Arctic Oscillation), gave most of us a mild winter. Historical data shows that the spring following a strong La Nina cycle winter often sees an increase in severe weather- including tornadoes. Examples of this would be the 2011 Southeast Outbreak, the Palm Sunday Outbreak, the Super Tuesday Outbreak, the March 2006 Outbreak, and the 1974 Super Outbreak.

There isn't anything unusual about an La Nina cycle, or a positive Arctic Oscillation. They occurred long before humans had any influence on the earth.

The earth is a dynamic planet, not a static one. It is events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, massive flooding and other "cataclysmic" events that formed the world as we see it today. In fact, if the earth and it's environment didn't go through changes through out history, chances are you nor I would be here.

What's going on, my friend, is that: "good news is no news!" From evolution, we are still the hunter-gatherer with memory to prepare the future: If a lion tried to eat us, next time we must remember to run faster and not that the lion had a lovely coloured fur! Hence our like for scary news.

Two hundred years ago, if there was an earthquake in Australia, it took half a year before the news arrived to England, by sailing ship. Today, we get it on the news in direct.

If you look at statistics in scientific publications, you will see that there is nothing special happening now. But if you read the news on any online news channel, notice the small ads on the side. Even Yahoo!Answers has them. Each time someone visits the site, a counter is increased and the owner gets more money for the ads he publishes.

And this is why you read about bad news everywhere. Simple, isn't it?

    Luke 21:11

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

It is NOT Mother Nature at her usual. I specifically remember a record number of hurricanes three years ago and the scientists had to go into the Greek alphabet to name them all. They went as far as Eta.

Also, the recent tornados a month ago in Alabama, the news reported they had more tornadoes on that day than they normally did all month on record.

Nothing really much, Just Mother Nature doing her usual as she does from day to day, sending out thunderstorms, tornados hurricanes earthquakes where ever she wants to.
