First things first, and this is the dad in me talking: where are you playing? A legit paintball field, or on someone's private property? Hopefully it's a legit field, since there'll be referees and chronographs to check paintball gun velocity. But if it's outlaw-ball (any paintball not at an established paintball field/park), make sure someone brings a chronograph and everyone agrees to enforce all necessary safety rules (masks on at all times in the playing areas, or barrel covers on at all times in non-playing areas). If there's no chronograph, no masks, irresponsible players, walk away. Walk. Away.

Now on to the playing tips.

Communication with your teammates is the main advice i give people. Teamwork wins games more than sheer skill does.

Tunnel vision, or focusing too much on what's straight ahead rather than watching all the angles, gets newer players into trouble the most. Most of the time, you'll get hit from the sides or at similar such angles. So be sure to scan the angles before scanning forward.

Play aggressive. Another mistake many new players make is hanging back, waiting for opponents to approach. But if you do that, you do 2 bad things: 1) your teammates that move forward lose support, and 2) by the time the opposing team makes it to the rear-most players, they've already got you surrounded and out-numbered. Better to charge ahead and get shot taking a few opponents out with you, than wait all game long for a slow defeat.

Getting hit hurts a little, but that's the incentive to playing smarter. You say you're a girly girl, but trust me when i tell you, once you start getting shot at, you will want to shoot back. Plus, if you play aggressive like i told you to, the adrenaline lessens the pain. Science!

Final tip: For most people, this is for recreation. So treat it as such. Just have fun.

Don't walk out in the open (stay by trees etc)

Wear an extra few layers (paintballs hurt just a bit..)

Hide in one place wait for people to walk past and just shoot them (kinda cheating but yeah)

if your playing in a foresty area, then move slow, stay near bushes and trees, avoid barricades, wear extra clothes, and if you can get some camo. i use all these and usually hit a few people before i get hit.
