Grand National who's for it ?

Yep it's another grand national question!!! But with a difference, who here actually is for racing and even steeple chase racing? Now just for my little rant cause I can't be bothered to go through and answer all the questions I'll give people my opinion here!

I actually work in the thoroughbred industry, I prepare yearlings for sale mainly but also work with mares and foals. I have had a staff member in a coma with a broken jaw and she had to learn to read and write again. A week after that myself and another girl were sent to hospital with concussions and another girl with a broken jaw! That's just one tiny example of people getting hurt and badly and we don't ride the horses!!

Anyone who wants the sport gone completely is insane!! It's the second largest employer in Australia, and the money generated by our fantastic racing carnivals and sales even the tourism!!

So basically is there anyone here who is directly involved in the industry that thinks racing should be banned?? Cause I highly doubt it!!

Update:

Oh and I forgot about the horses!!! Things happen all the time and so easily I've had a mare who survived colic surgery but was put down after breaking her shoulder in recovery! The amount of horses that die of simple things such as colic, bone/ joint infections and well talk about operating on a leg to fix it well the horse could not wake up. Even in this day and age with technology we lose horses all the time to things we should be able to fix.

Strong feelings come out every year, correct.. However, this world- famous race has been held annually since 1839.. It is handicap steeplechase run over a distance of 4 miles and 856 yards (7,242 m), with horses jumping thirty fences over two circuits of Aintree's National Course of course there's going to tragedies, which most come to expect, so quite honestly it is what it is..This Horse Race will never be banned so people do really need to get over it. I love horses too and it really has very little to do with feeling but the history of this race. Cruelty is everywhere and there's nothing you or I or anyone can do about , this race been on going since 1839 and each year we deal with the outcry.

As a horse racing fan & especially of National Hunt racing, I don't care much for the Grand National as its only another staying handicap to me, I much prefer the Cheltenham Festival & the championship races held there.

I've asked & answered loads of questions in this category over the years but it is only at this time of year I start getting seriously thumbed down by the antis who show up every twelve months & I'm sure are well intentioned but sadly misguided.

It is possible the people at Aintree will be looking at again making alterations to the course, we shall have to see.

As I have answered in other questions in the last couple of days, racing is such a massive industry that a government would never try to ban it for fear of the financial impact to its income.

If people see horses dying and jockeys being injured then people are always going to think its mean. You can't blame them really after all death has always been considered a bad thing!
