Can I pull money out of a CD?

Long story short my grandfather created CDs in the bank for me since I was REALLY little. I'm 20, going to be 21 now. When he passed away he left the CDs to my aunt to watch them, make sure they stay up to date, and everything else that it takes to have them bring in as much money for me to use as possible. So with that said here is my dillema.

I am supposed to get all of that money, to do whatever I want with it this year, but my aunt is refusing to give it to me until I turn 25, so I guess she renewed it/them again for another 5 years. I'm in the process of looking at a house that will fit myself, my fiance, my daughter, and my German Shepard dog. The house is not that much, but I need that money to help me get it. In all honesty I really just need a down-payment, and I can get a mortgage which I can then payoff when the CDs mature and everything will be good.

My name is on the bank account, I know this for a fact because I used to get the letters at my address all the time for the account(s) and the names on the envelopes were mine and my grandfather's. So with that said can I take money out of it even though her name is also on it? I'm figuring there will probably be a penalty on it as well if I do take something out of it, but that is perfectly fine by me at this point. We are also in the process of saving money, but I am currently unemployed and going to college so saving money is a little difficult at the moment. Any advice, or answers to my previous question?

Your name is on the CD and you are over 18. What is the problem? Go get your money. Just be warned that if you pull them out early you will lose the last 6 months of interest. Equal to nothing in this market.

Suggestion: Get married to this man.

Maybe that would change your aunts mind.

In my state, you cannot take money out of a custodial account until you are 25.

Google your state followed by the words custodial accounts and read.

Also there is nothing wrong with both you and your fiancee buying a home on your own at this time. Keep renting a cheap place and save up a down payment.

The money will be there someday for you.
