Situation advice on downhill turn?
I was going down a road that ended unexpectedly in a steep decline that was sand covered.I had no option but to turn around. I had stopped when I saw the road ended. I was pretty much stuck. If i let off the front brake,I just went further down(not enough room to make a U turn on the road) If I held the back brake only,I slowly slid but stayed straight. I could not swing the back around,it tipped the bike too far (heavy bike). After a long time, someone stopped and helped me swing the back downhill with the back brake on. But what option did I have if nobody showed up besides tipping the bike(too heavy to pick up on a downhill grade)? Also as soon as it got anything besides pointing straight downhill, both tires slid.
No,no,haha. The road became a seasonal road at the end, down steeper and muddy with large tire ruts. I didn't want to go there,in the woods, out of sight of the paved road,in worse conditions.Where I live this is common,a country paved road just ends and continues to a sign "seasonal road". I just found out too late. That's why the sand,it was dirt from drivers coming uphill.
I guess i could have gotten to the shoulder and parked with some kind of wheel chock,if i could reach a big rock or something to wedge the tire. Not the best idea to walk to where? ,when it's basically miles between farms (farms with dogs).

So basically you rode over a cliff?
You were lucky someone came along, otherwise you would still be there. Next time, watch for road signs saying "dead end" or similar.
