Graphics Card Question?
Is it possible to install an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 into a ThinkCentre desktop that already has an Intel Core2 Duo CPI E8400 @ 3.00GHz/Intel GMA 3100?

No. If the motherboard supports Intel processors, nothing from AMD would work. And vice versa, any motherboard that accepts Athlon/Phenom processors won't take anything from Intel.
What you suggested would be a huge downgrade, anyway. The Core 2 Duo E8400 outperforms most Athlon II processors, it's far superior to the old Athlon 64 X2 6000+

you'll have to change your motherboard for AMD processor, because AMD and Intel have different Motherboards and sockets. AMD motherboard with Socket AM2 or AM2+ will work with athlon 64 processor.
Hope this helps :)
