Can You Dye Your Hair If It Is Black?

I bought blonde hair dye from the supermarket to dye my hair brown. My natural hair colour is black and it is very dark because I'm Asian. I tried brown hair dye a couple of times but it didn't work.

The blonde hair dye worked very well on my hair and it turned a medium brown which was the colour I wanted my hair to go. I used 'Natural Ultra Light Ash Blonde' by Nice N Easy. Any blonde dye should work. Use a lighter blonde to dye black hair a lighter brown but use a darker blonde to dye black hair a darker brown. It just depends on what colour your friend wants to go!

If your friend does dye her hair with blonde dye, I strongly advise to use the hair dye by working from the bottom of the hair upwards. Do the roots last because the heat in the scalp makes the hair dye develop quicker in your hair.

Also, your friend should leave the hair dye on for about 45 minutes, or up to an hour. I recommend you don't leave the dye on for more than 1 hour though.

Don't listen to anybody who says your friend has to strip her hair or use bleach, haha! Hope this helped.

I privately think Black hair and Brown eyes are more attractive on men

Obviously it's not going to do anything! If she's got black in her hair the brown isn't going to touch it, you need to strip the black out first then put a brown over the top!

she might have to go to the salon...dying black hair is the hardest color to dye =(

yes im sure people with black hair can dye their hair. Im really no expert but i think some home dyes are made for a specific hair colour for them to work if you get what i mean, was she deffo using the right one? there is different things about stripping hair etc so she needed to do that i think so ask her what all she did to her hair and see if she missed any steps. but yet again ive never dyed my hair so i cant be 100% reliable :L

It will be hard to make it really light but yes you can. I have a friend who colors her's red and sometimes with blonde highlights and she has black hair. It looks pretty good to me.

yes you can if she used just a regular brown that surely isnt going to do anything what so ever, buy a blonde light blonde super light blonde and follow the directions but leave it in until you get the desired hair color.

Bleaching is wayy to damaging and will kill her hair.

You can but you have to bleach it first.
