I need confirmation on a players ERA?

Jered Weaver of the Los Angeles Angels currently has pitched 20.2 innings and has 5 earned runs. When I apply the formula to figure out his ERA it comes out to 2.23. But all the sporting sites list him with an ERA of 2.18. I know my math is correct, what am I missing?

    You used the formula correctly, but 20.2 innings is 20 and 2/3 innings, so try 20.6666667 in your formula. I just tried it with both 20.2 and 20.66666667 on my calculator so I could see if that is where you made your mistake before answering, and it is.

    Admittedly, unless you're really paying close attention it's a very easy mistake to make.

    20.2 innings = 62/3 innings.

    ERA =9*ER/IP=9*5/(62/3)=135/62=2.18

    You are missing the fact that you don't know how to read innings pitched.

    20.2 innings means 20 innings and 2/3 of an inning (2 outs). So divide by 20.666666

    You divided by 20.2 (what is 2/10th of an inning?)
