“Sometimes we like something that is not good for us, and sometimes we dislike something that is good for us”
Making Du’a to Allah is the most powerful and the most noble in the sight of Allah, acknowledging that Allah is the only provider, the one and only whom is sufficient to all humankind, is in deed the first step to attaining ones desires, wants and needs.
Whatever is written shall come to pass and whatever is not written shall never come to pass. Everything is within your destiny, whether it’s making Du’a and whether Allah fulfills it or not is all apart of your destiny, everything happens for a reason, everything has purpose, Allah does not harm his creation and at the same time does not give something that is harmful or not beneficial, however if you don’t get what you have asked for, he compensates for it by giving you better then what you have asked for or will test your patience and faith and will reward you by removing past sins you may have committed or give your great rewards in the hereafter.
If you look back at the stories of our beloved prophets, all were faced with trials and many of them made countless Du’a’s to Almighty and were tested for their patience and faith, some were answered after many many years. You must never loose hope and most importantly never loose patience this is the one thing Allah tests you on, how strong is your faith and patient will you remain for what you are asking for.
Allah is all hearing, all knowing and all seeing, he is well aware of what you desire and are asking from him, continue to make Du’a and do remain patient!

Wa alaikum as salaam, Nobody really knows the answer of this one except the Almighty-All Knower- Allah. And i think instead of us trying to think what Allah would intend, which is impossible with our little and corrupted iman and ilm, i think we should be worrying about NOT being the ones who would dwell in Hell. This is like imagining how would one celebrate after exams when he has no clue what so ever if he's even gonna pass. Allah knows best :)

I always thought of things as " did I deposited or have left something to allah swt for safe keeping then ask for it when I need it a right idea"?
Allah swt is my master , not my waiter, and I am the slave.
edit
lol with TDs
it goes on like this with the asking thing
allah swt has unlimited capacity to give, but we have limited capacity to receive.
if we wish for something, it has already been granted, if only we know how to get it.

yes ALLAH can grant you, but if it's bad for you ALLAH may not grant you. we don't know what is good or what is bad for us. ALLAH only know best.

Salam Really Allah will mostly grant us anything we ask for if we love Allah and we obey to all of Allah's commands and prohibitions as stated in the Qur'an and explained in hadith. If we disobey it,it means we do not love Allah so Allah would not grant anything we ask for.

Salam,
There are conditions.
1) What you eat has to be halal
2) What you wear has to be halal
3) No big sins
Also, you should be praying your daily 5 prayers and asking forgivness over your past sins.

I guess allah is a jinn now? Rub the lamp and he'll come out and grant your wish? I don't know about allah, but God doesn't work that way. Pray is not for wish granting. It's to bring us closer to God. When you are in a relationship with our Father, you will pray for His will to be done and listen for what that will is.

Yes, but remember that you must be patient and whatever you request must be halal. Anyhow, we need only look to the Qur'an for proof:
"And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided" (2:186).
Recall also the story of Prophet Zacharias who implored Allah for an heir, even though he was old and his wife was barren--the impossible became possible:
"He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age?" (19:8)
"[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing' " (19:9).
Allah knows best, wa salaam:-)
