Why is Yahoo Answers being so stupid limiting me to a mere 20 questions, 80 answers, and 40 comments?

Are the people at Yahoo Answers too dumb to know the simple concept of moral hazard? The people who are at level 5, 6, or 7 are the least likely to post spam. If there are more limitations shouldn't they be given to the level 1 users, the ones who are 90% of the spammers? Why limit us? We have been here long enough, without being suspended, so we must have been following the rules. Why are they doing this? We want to get points, we can't get points answering only 80 questions a day.

    questions per day..?!

    You mean eight..right? Or Eighteen..?

If you do mean 80 per day..you mean that there was one day where you just happened to stay home because you were waiting for a very important FedEx package, or perhaps your ISP tech was showing up..somebody was about to deliver a new couch, and they said you have to be there from 7am until 8pm, so you sat there and answered Q after Q..right?

Here's the thingl I clicked on to your Q because I took my traditional sabbatical from Y!A.com for a couple of months and when I returned, I saw the new policy re: the limitations for Level 5, 6, and 7ers. I pondered this, myself..for, as you stated in the beginning, if anything, the more seasoned contributors should be free to contribute, since they have (presumably) proven to be valid, considerate, mindful of the various Y!A.com community guidelines, etc. The level 1ers/newbies being limited makes some sense. After all, giving brand new Y!A.com account holders carte blanche to post anything would result in many people opening many accounts.

But then you lost me at the 80 questions per day!

Miss Lilywhite is as right as rain. I sprint out of YahooAnswerland like a bat out of Hell every few months when I become too overwhelmed with the trolls and riffraff. But I always come back because the bottom line is I really love this format. I've honestly learned so much, been completely entertained, and (hopefully) helped others with their serious and heartfelt Q's. It sounds corny but it's true for me. There's nothing worse than when one composes a Q and there are mono-syllabic, irrelevant or idiotic, one-word or one-sentence answers..such as:

    "..why dontcha google it'..

    "..no"..

    "..xq7ht"..

    "..why dontcha **** this"..

    (and so on)

If this policy cuts down on the people who's goal is to answers as many questions as possible, vs answer in thoughtful and helpful ways, then I'm on board. I wasn't aware of the part about having the ability to vote on 400 Q's. Wheew, that's alot. I suppose that was designed so that these formerly unresolved Q's will be closed out, once and for all..so that's not all bad, either.

Thank you for making this so clear.

The Answers Team has just recently changed the points system for higher level users 5-7 where they're now limited to answering 80 questions per day, and also applies to asking 20 questions daily. This is because users in those levels who spam or game the points system. It's the actions of the few that caused all others having to pay the price for their actions. Even though unfair, this is the only way for users to give out sufficient answers that benefit this community. They aren't being stupid; this is one of the smartest things they've done. Very, very few people can answer 80+ questions a day in a manner that would not violate the community guidelines. Point gamers, chatter, and ranters are who the limits are here to stop. I think you fit that picture. I'd say if you have gone this far while posting violations like this one as a 'question' you haven't been suspended because, so far, you have manged to fly under the radar, NOT because you have been following the rules.

in case you do no longer provide ultimate answer that is going to circulate to the vote and we will have danger to have our say. I do see your factor. it is basically satisfaction truly to need ultimate answer. all of us like being offered them now and back yet we are able to do definitely no longer something with the factors we earn different than that those with zillions of things could desire to take a seat right here all day asking and answering simply by fact they could use the area without limits while those people on levels a million and a pair of and so on. are constrained in how lots we are able to apply the area. The thumbs up and down are a miles better theory yet those are used mischievously besides so are no longer a real handbook as to what others actually theory-approximately our answer. The record button is a similar. If there's a consumer who has suggested something nasty approximately yet another consumer they could seem out for that individual back and record them for the daftest of motives to get retribution. it is not for the heavily minded or actual indignant individual yet, for people who DO use Y.A heavily, that is totally effectual - which replaced into the unique theory i'm valuable.

"We want to get points, we can't get points answering only 80 questions a day."

That's exactly the mindset that provoked Yahoo! to make the latest change. They're not cracking down on spammers--they're cracking down on users who are more concerned about answering as many questions as they can rather than providing the best answers that they can. The change is to encourage quality over quantity and discourage users who care about building up their point totals and not about providing helpful answers to others.

Your question is a chat violation.

Chronic abuse of the Yahoo system is NOT limited to the lower level accounts. MANY of the older accounts at the level 7 ARE CHRONIC SYSTEM ABUSERS. You haven't even noticed that the number of best answers you can vote for were increased from 150 to 200, and then yesterday the limit was raised again for levels 6 and 7 to $)) VOTES PER DAY.

Yahoo is being VERY SMART about abuse on YA and Yahoo. I DARE YOU to answer 80 questions with sources in one 24 hour period. I hit the level 4 limit on answers per day ONLY ONE TIME when this account was still at level 4.
