Nothing ever says you cant feed baby garters meal worms. Does anyone.know if you can do this? If so, how many mealworms and how often should you feed the snake? Thank you.

I'm not very sure if these snakes would rather take mealworms as from the research i've done mainly said either crickets or grasshoppers as the insect-diet for these fellows, but I'll try to give you a link on feeding them insects, if you'd like for me too, but here ya go: http://www.gartersnakes.com/food.html, but yeah diet of these mainly consist of cold-blooded prey such as lizards like anoles, fence lizards, etc., frogs and toads, also even earthworms are a good source of food for them as well as slugs, snails, leeches, and even spiders, but yeah I I would say maybe like feed them about 12 of these, Garter Snakes can make great pets but also beware that most of them tend to be wild-caught, but are highly cheap about maybe like $5-$15 bucks, but I'm lucky enough to seem them roaming around in my apartment from time-to-time got the chance to see a baby one outside it was pretty awesome, but yeah they might be hard to care for as they'll need to eat more than your typical pet snake (i.e. ball python or red-tail boa). Good Luck!

EDIT: I'd also like to mention that these snakes are very cold-tolerate and do well at room-temperature, but of course with any kind of reptile then I'd at least provide them with a heatpad and/or a heat lamp as well as full-spectrum (UVA/B) not very recommend for them (or snakes in general), but is very good for their health.
