Help plz is a vagan a vegetarian?

I'm having a BBQ and one of the people that is coming said she was a vagan and couldn't possiable eat any of the food on the menu that I needed to include some vagan food...she was quite rude and demanding...I do not intend to change my menu however what is vagan food ? Just trying to see if I could add to my menu ...without it costing alot of money...

Update:

Thank you everyone , now that I know how to spell it correctly maybe I can find a cookbook on line because this is really confusing to me...everything I make she can't eat ...

Update 2:

the other thing is I make all my own salad dressings, catsup ,bbq sauce etc so this is why it's so confusing...

Vegan, not vagan. Vegans are vegetarians, but all vegetarians aren't vegans. Vegetarians don't eat flesh, be it fish, fowl, beef, pork whatever. If it had a mom, they don't eat it. People who say they are vegetarians but eat fish aren't vegetarians. They are people who don't eat pork, beef, fowl, whatever but eat fish.

Vegans don't eat ANY animal products, so where vegetarians often eat dairy vegans don't. No milk, eggs, cheese, etc. There are a lot of hidden animal products like gelatin in jello or salad dressings too.

Anyway, the other difference in my opinion is that vegetarians are generally just vegetarians, but vegans are insufferable, hence the "demand" that you accommodate her diet choice. They are often humorless too. Anyway, don't go nuts, get some veggies, fruit, that sort of thing, pick up a box of Boca burgers. If you are going to grill the boca burgers, use another spatula to turn them, and make sure she knows you did so.

And be ready for an earful of how she hates meat, how people who eat meat are awful, how just smelling the grill makes her sick, and did you know there are bones in jello, and so on and so on.

If she gets on your nerves, tell her you have accommodated her, and ask if you were to eat at her house, if she would make you a nice steak.

Seriously, I'm sure not all vegans are insufferable arrogant rude *******, but Iv'e never met one who wasn't, and I've known a lot of them. Good luck.

IT's not confusing if you know about it. Only if you're on the outside looking in at the two words- vegetarian and vegan.

A vegan is very very clear in what they are, and what they eat. It's not the same thing as a vegetarian. The good thing to remember is- a vegan is definitely a vegetarian.

It's a bit like saying is a sportsman and a golfer the same thing. Sort of.

    A golfer is a sprotsman, but a sportsman isn't necessarily a golfer.

Vegans eat NOTHING that comes from animals.

Hey, not exactly. A vegetarian does not eat meat, whereas a vegan does not eat meat, eggs, dairy (cheese, milk, butter, cream, yogurt etc) or honey. They also don't eat any foods containing these as ingredients.

Since it's a BBQ you could do a couple of pasta or bean salads for her? Some veggie kebabs would also be perfect. I'd avoid any shop-bought veggie burgers as these often contain eggs.

Vegan food is anything without meat or animal products. For example: no eggs, milk, etc. If it comes from an animal-- they won't eat it. So buy fruits, vegetables, and maybe soy meat if she'll eat that. But a vegan is not a vegetarian

    Source(s): i am a vegetarian.

Why don't you encourage her to bring something along to share with the rest of the guests or invite her to come over earlier and help out with preparation? It would certainly be nice if you were able to accommodate her needs, but given that this is confusing you, I would say the onus is on her to help you figure things out, not pressure you into being stressed out about it.

P.S. I'm vegan, but I don't expect each event or party host I attend to necessarily "get it." I don't make a big deal about it, there's usually something there I can nibble on or fill my plate with. One unsatisfactory meal is not going to ruin my life and if someone acts like it has ruined their day, it probably has nothing to do with their veganism. Sounds like they would be just as rude about anything else.

Vegetarian people do not eat meat.

Vegan people do not eat anything that comes from animals: this includes meat but also milk, butter, eggs.. stuff like that. (:

Wow, that's very accommodating of you! How kind and open minded! Is she your friend, or someone you despise and disrespect?

now that you know the difference; I'd suggest just doing a veggie kabob/skewer on the grill.. and beans (that are NOT made/fried with lard or animal fat)
