Must the label on a bat in baseball always be up before swinging?

    For a regular wood bat, you want the label up (or down) not when you take your stance, but when you hit the ball. Hitting the ball on the edge grain is least likely to break it.

    For non-wood bats, it doesn't matter which way the label faces.
