When your team makes the playoffs?

Or, if not this year, when your team HAS made the playoffs in the past, have you ever kind of cheered for the team that knocked out your favorite team? I ask this, because I was blown away by the Nashville Predators, and I'm not "rooting" for them 100%, but, that COULD change depending on whatever upcoming match ups will happen. So I ask you this.....have you ever done this before? I can see why some fans wouldn't.....(Philly/Pittsburgh,) And I NEVER have rooted for the Sharks in the past nor will I in the future to be honest....but Nashville has got me thinking a bit about this.

When you are a small market team like Edmonton you'll take every playoff appearance you can get.

    ...

Reading it again no I have never. I certainly would never cheer for Calgary nor any other team that eliminated us.

ok, i'm a Phillies fan, and of the communities with a shot at making the playoffs (CHC, NYM, LAD, Mil, Hou / LAA, Bos, TB, CWS, Min) i could %. any AL group, considering that could propose we gained the NL. i could say TB could make me least mad, then the White Sox, do no longer think of Minny gets in, yet they could be third, then the Angels... and that i hate the crimson Sox, so it may particularly piss me off in the event that they gained yet another one. As for the NL, my playoffs are a million Cubs 2 Phillies 3 Mets 4 Dodgers. All 4 could particularly piss me off. I hate Manny, I hate the Cubs, and that i in my view HATE the Mets. So i assume i could incredibly see the Dodgers, then the Cubs, and that i does no longer pick to ensure the Mets beat us interior the NLCS. yet, I won't could desire to ensure any of those take place, using fact the Phillies will 3-a million the Dodgers, 4-2 the Cubs and then 4-2 the Angels to win the worldwide SERIESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

I guess really it comes down to which team eliminates your favourite team, i mean if a couple of my favourite teams are playing eachother and my fav team loses i have no promblem cheering for the team that eliminated mine, i mean but if your facing a rival in playoffs then theres no reason to cheer for the team that eliminated you.even some teams im not big fans of i would cheer for if they eliminated my fav team. Now my team (calgary flames) are obviously not in the playoffs but for example if they had made the playoffs and lost to a team like st. louis even though im not a st. louis fan i would like to see st. louis win the cup because who would of thought it. I guess for now i don't need to worry about flames being eliminated in the playoffs because it doesn't look like their gonna be their for a while... I guess at the end of the day its better to say your team lost to the stanley cup champions not a team that got eliminated the next round

  • Do you mean in future rounds? I've always thought that there are two ways of approaching this.

The first is the more negative (and maybe that makes me a bad person, but it's my first instinct): I hate the I hate them I hate them!

The second i think is a more positive approach, which is that, If we have to lose, I'd like to think that we only lost because we played against the best team out there. The part that says I'd rather lose against the eventual Cup winner than against somebody who get blown out in the next round.

I feel that last a bit, but I just can't even find myself able to actually cheer for them, the bastards. ;-)

To be fair, I don't actually hate any team, although if the Bruins were to drive the team bus off a cliff it wouldn't upset me too much. When the Kings beat the Canucks, I don't see any hatred building up. Since they are one of the few teams to have gone longer without a win, I can see myself cheering them on.

YES. I most always cheer for any team that beats mine (except if its a rivalry team). I am cheering for Nashville too! Go Preds!

Kay, my three least favorite teams have always the Senators, Bruins, Flyers, and Leafs. Let's take a trip down recent memory lane...

2006-07: Senators beat the Sabres in 5 to reach the Cup finals

2009-10: Bruins beat the Sabres in 6 to go to the 2nd round

2010-11: Flyers beat the Sabres in 7 to go to the 2nd round

and on a technicality, the Sabres lost to the Flyers on the day they were officially eliminated this year too.

For me it is clearly hard to do, but I don't blame you for rooting for the Preds as the playoffs continue on. They are who I am rooting for too because I want Paul Gaustad to win a Cup.
