for black women who want longer hair, do you ever despair to grow your hair long?

it's like, i know what steps i should be taking with my hair in order to grow it long and healthy. i just chopped off a considerable inch from my hair today, and it just made me think about how involving the process is to grow long hair. i just want to enjoy my hair (but i can't lest i get split ends and breakage when my hair tangles!) , and i feel like if i wanted to maximize my hair growth i'd have to give that aspect up. i get so frustrated with these warring concepts that i just want to shave my head bald and start over! or just simply forget...

and then i wonder, do any of you go through this when trying to grow your hair long?

Hi amethyst, I totally know how you feel, right now my hair is brastrap length and I totally love it so I've stopped wearing my protective styles and have started straightening more( my hair is natural) , I'm aiming for tailbone length. I did a search and destroy last night and found a few split ends so I think im going to get a 1-2 inch cut soon before the splits travel up the shaft

Everytime I cut/ do search and destroy I am filled with so much emotion because I know I worked hard for the length; but we have to remember it just hair it will grow back. Have you checked out longhaircareforum.com?
