Help! "Turn Windows features on or off"- nothing shows in box?
A long time ago, I turned off the Windows Media player, and now would like to turn it back on. I go to "control panel"," turn windows features on or off", and the box pops up, but nothing is inside, just a blank white screen.
How do I fix it?
I also tried downloading Windows Media Player from the Microsoft website, but since it is included with the package of Windows 7, they don't have it available to download, and it wouldn't let me download the XP version.

If I have to reinstall windows, can I use a back up hard drive to keep my programs? Or will the back up erase any changes I made from reinstalling?

"Turn on or off Windows Features" box being blank in Windows 7 is a case of some serious damages done to Windows System Files in the computer. To get this resolved and at the same time, to keep all your programs and data files intact in the computer, you can perform what is called a "Repair installation" of Windows 7 in the computer.
In order to do a repair installation, you will need a DVD for the same version of Windows 7 that you are running.
Click on START, right click on COMPUTER and click on PROPERTIES. If the windows that opens up says Windows 7 Home Premium and Service Pack 1, you will need a DVD for Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1 to do the repair installation. If this window says Windows 7 Home Premium and there is no mention of Service Pack 1, you will need a DVD for Windows 7 without Service Pack 1. Moreover, if you are running a 32 bit version, you will need a 32 bit DVD, same applies for 64 bit.
