Is there any possibility of either of these two Scenerios happening? (Hockey)?

Those of you that know me know that I'm not good when it comes to Cap Space, Cap Room, basically anything dealing with Contracts and money. ( I seriously suck at math & numbers). So, For you Smart people out there that know this stuff....."Could" either of these 2 scenerios happen this off season...

1. Vancouver keeps Schnieder, and Luongo get's traded even though he has a Lengthy & Huge Contract?

2. The Pittsburgh Penguins decide to trade Evgeni Malkin due to whatever reasons?

I know Luu has a NTC, and I know Malkin is an Important part of the Penguins organization, but, could it happen? I do know stranger things have happened before lol

Loungo actually has the option to drop some of the years (I think 2 of the reamining 6?) making it a 4 year contract and slightly increaseing the cap hit.. A team with good cap space and a lack lust goal tender may choose to pick him up

I dont see Malkin being a carreer pen... It would be truly impressive to keep that team together for much longer... Malkins contract is up for the 2015 season right now they only have 4 players signed for that season (The real deal James Neal, Paul martin, Zbynek Michalek, mark andre fluery) and they have already spent 19 million dollars leaving them around 45 Million to play with that year

    45 Million (Starting)

    - 8.7 Signing Crosby

    36.3 Million

    - 4 Million Singing Stall

    32.3 Million

So with a team total of only 6 players and needing to fill 26 other positions along with having to sign any new rookies or prospects that may pop up in their system... I just dont see them having the money to resign both super stars...

    1. Vancouver won't get much for Luongo, it will be very likely if they get anything good it will be in unproven prospects. Basically a risk-for-risk kind of trade, since no team will give up proven assets for Luongo. Probably draft picks and players still in juniors at most, which I think is what's best for Vancouver anyway since they don't have the cap space to handle assets and have a weak prospect system.

If Luongo refuses to be traded, they may just let Schnieder go and collect the draft picks from whoever signs him as he is an RFA, or if he doesn't go elsewhere Vancouver can keep him with a cap hit that would remain around 1 million for another year. I doubt they would bury Luongo in the minors, that would be a massive slap in the face to a respected member of their organization.

    2. Not going to happen, but possible. It would be a good move for another prospect weak team. Take in a quality defense man and prospects, it would be the smart move for Pittsburgh.

It's much less impending than the Luongo situation, so there isn't as much to say on this. If it happens, there are millions of scenarios and what ifs.

Nobody will touch Luongo because he's too expensive. His season numbers were mediocre and he has now choked two years in a row in the playoffs. Vancouver's situation is not as bad as the Islanders who will be paying DiPietro and Yashin forever, but it definitely creates a problem for Schneider.

As for Pittsburgh, I can't see them trading Malkin. That would be like Ottawa trading Spezza. I think Fleury would be more likely considered after what happened in round 1.
