My Dog's fur gives me a rash?
I have a two year old female rescue who we believe is a Rhodesian Ridge-back and Red-nose Pit mix. I've had her for a little over a year now and she has made herself a cozy place in my heart. But sadly her coat is very pointy and sharp, falls out easily and about an 3/4" long. Every time it I come into contact with it, I break out in the area. It's very itchy and makes white bumps the more I scratch it. I've gotten better about not itching and ignoring it but it's unbearable to want to avoid your best doggy- friend. Any ideas or remedies for maybe making her coat more gentle on my frail skin?

You are having an allergic reaction to your dog. It's actually the saliva and not the fur you are allergic to.
My son had severe allergies to dogs and the best solution I came up with was be diligent about washing your hands after petting or touching the dog, vacuum daily, teach the dog not to go into certain rooms, (at our house it was the bathroom and the kids' bedrooms) and never touch your eyes or face without washing your hands. My sons eyes would itch and swell so bad his eyes literally swelled shut. You can also wipe your dog down with doggy wipes daily to keep the saliva in his fur to a minimum.

Didn't say what age your Peke was. During 1st yr. old dogs usually don't shed that much the 1st time,... it may be that she's just shedding now (had a Husky which shedded profusely in clumps), a good brushing and see if any further clumps comes out. The rash on belly could be something simple, like heat rash or rubbing on the rug to alleviate the uncomfortableness of the heat of her heavy fur.. I doubt it's mange. Could also be eczema (had a Shitz Tzu) with it, but her skin stunk awfully and was more flakey yet wet,... not rash. Hope this helps

selson blue, then pantene conditioner will make it much softer, but if you're allergic, try allergy meds for yourself
