Phone not getting texts, Android OS and apps question?
If it helps I have the sony erricson xperia x10, android 2.2.1, baseband 2.1.55, kernal 2.6.29, running cyanogen mod XShinyBread_CM6_v1-Stable. These problems started before I flashed the new OS on, and doesn't fix itself when I change the OS so I don't think that is the problem, but it may be helpful information regardless.
The problem I am having is that my phone arbitrarily decides to stop receiving texts at times. I've done a lot of research on this and it seems to be a common problem on the x10, and no one seems to have any advice on how to fix it. More specifically, it will send texts just fine, but I will not be able to see texts sent back to me. After some time, my phone will decide to start working again and I will get all of the text messages at once that were sent to me during the "no text time".
I have been trying hard to debug this problem, not being able to find any patterns as to what causes it. My phone just recently had this happen twice within a few days and while I wasn't able to find any cause of it, I was able to find a pattern in when it ends. The last two times my phone stopped getting texts, it did it for exactly 72 hours.
So, what would be most helpful is if anyone actually knows of a solution to this problem, considering many people with the x10 seem to have it. If not however, it would be very helpful if anyone knew of anything on my phone that could be resetting every 72 hours and causing the texts to come back. Obviously finding whatever fixed the problem would be a huge help in preventing it.
Before I get any stupid answers, yes I always try rebooting my phone multiple times, yes I remove the battery and SIM card, yes I call my service provider, AT&T every time to check if the problem is on their side, and yes I have even called sony erricson too see if they had any solutions. Nothing I do seems to be able to fix the problem, it only fixes itself after 72 hours, and I'm baffled as to why.
I am using handscent sms and have all the settings for the stock messaging app turned off. I do have advance task killer, I will definitely try removing that and see if it has any positive effects.

uninstall OR DISABLE any task killer you may have that can be killing the stock texting app. Task Killers are freaking stupid, the devil, and DO NOT BELONG on Android 2.0+ cause android 2.0 automatically freezes and closes background apps. Use a task Killer on Android 2.0+ negates it system process, thus causing the system ROM and apps to force close, not work properly, freeze, lag
next... get Handcent SMS and you that has your texting app... disable all settings in the stock text app.... If handcent works, then you know your stoc texting app sucks..... if handcent doesnt work, then you have internal phone problems such as a radio issue OR local network problems... IF ATT says its ok, then file a free warranty replacement and get a new x10.. if this new x10 has the same texting issue, then you know damn its ATTs network... but I wont go there.. lmao
