If my data connection is enabled does it cost me even if im not using online at the time let alone the phone?
PHONE = AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S2 I ask this because certain people will text me by sending a normal text as a multimedia message and my phone wont allow me to see this message unless my active data network option is turned on before that message was sent.

Some apps consume data in the background. If you are connected and you are not using the internet, you still consume data, but it is very minimal. Keeping the connection will drain your battery very badly though.

That doesn't mean you failed to receive the multimedia message at all , once youve either connected your phone to a wifi network or enabled your data connection again, just go to your inbox and tap on the messages to download them onto your phone.

Your phone will use a MARGINAL amount of data if you have no apps running that use internet.
But otherwise, no.
However, if you're not using the data that much, turn it off. It's a huge battery drainer.
