Does Direct TV require a dish? And if not, does the service cut off very often?

Is it trouble-free? Or does it, like Dish Network, tend to cut out a lot?

DirecTV does require a dish, aimed at the southern sky with nothing in front of it. I've had DirecTV since the 80s and it is more reliable and better picture than cable or broadcast TV (rabbit ears). The only time I've had a problem with 'cut outs' is when it is raining hard. Regular rain wont bother it. Dark clouds and heavy rain will. Get DirecTV with Tivo DVR. Best way to go.
