I have a Period Question?

Hello, I am 48 years old & have always had regular periods, that is until this month!

So far I am 8 days late & there has been spotting for about 4 days & I had all the other symptoms that I would normally have,but no period.. Going to see the doctor next week but just wondering if this may be the start of menopause as I expected a bit more notice other then just stopping !
