He attended a motorcycle rally, his wife thinks he was given PCP in perhaps a cigarette, he became manic, asked for help in getting detoxed,This is usually a dual diagnosis, drink and Bipolar. his mother found a place and gave the wife the telephone number but the wife said she wanted to talk with the minister about a 12 step program. AA. He has not slept in 6 days now, How do we get him out to be detoxed, he must be detoxed before he can be placed back on his bipolar meds. He has the money for a lawyer, can he sign for a retainer himself in the jail, Thank You

Update:

After three days, he asked for help, then his wife took him to church, they returned home, where he shot up his beloved motorcycle. He said he was going to kill himself and put a gun to his temple, she walked out of the house and called police, who surrounded the house, he then washed the dishes and changed the cat litter. This started a 7:30, at about two he began to think the police were after him and began to shoot outside, the police spoke to me on the phone and I explained he was off his BiPolar meds, drinking, and had to be detoxed before he could be replaced on them. The police were wonderful about 4:30 they sent a arored vehickle in with a robot that had a speaker phone on it and he surrendered. Now he is off everything, but going cold turkey (jail). Wife does not want to spend lawyers fee, and he can easily afford it. Tonight will be his seventh day without sleep.

Alalfred I just wanted to tell you back in 62 when I was in college, my great Aunts were up to the house for dinner and speaking on an ulcle who had a fork lift run into his back, he was in such pain even after the doctors did everything they could, that he threatened to kill himself.. All my my Aunts and my parents said People who say they will kill themselves never do it. And my psychology professor was talking about it in class, and I spoke up and told him about my uncle, he said that is a cry for help, He will do it.

Well I told my Great Aunts, but they said no if he talks about it he won't do it, two night later he jumped a bridge over a roadway and was able to crawl to the grass beside the road and died.

I don't know the answer to your legal question, but I do know something about recovery.

This may sound cruel, but some psychologists think that the most important factor in recovery is not treatment but the alcoholic's hatred of alcohol that comes from a rock-bottom experience like this. Maybe a really bad experience in jail would be good for him in the long run.

One of the most important counseling methods is called Motivation Enhancement. A basic principle of this method is that the client should be aware of different options. Studies show that AA is one good approach. Motivational Enhancement and cognitive behavioral therapy are also good. In fact, psychologists have concluded that these three are equally good. You can find out about these counseling approaches by going to SMARTRecovery.org

Medical care is also important. The alcoholic may have a condition that requires treatment, such as vitamin deficiency. Also, in recent years, medicine has become very important in treating alcoholism. A University of New Mexico study says that two medicines - GABA agonist and opiate antagonist - are among the four most important treatments. This research found that psychiatry is NOT effective, nor is lengthy impatient treatment in rehab facilities.

I knew a manically depressed man or woman for a whilst (earlier than he dedicated suicide) and so I suppose for you on account that I understand the issues that you're going to commonly face. the very first thing to grasp is that it more commonly isnt your fault and that manic melancholy is triggered via an imbalance of chemical substances within the mind. as a youngster, speak for your mum or an grownup that has a few have an effect on over him, and check out to organize an appointment with a psyciatrist. there's a scientific remedy for it, and whilst i cant consider it, a proficient psyciatrist will understand what it's and will probably be competent to get a prescription for him. as soon as once more, i do truthfully understand what you're going by way of as i've been by way of it and i'm handiest sixteen so i additionally understand that it kind of feels that you simply are not able to do any factor. Sorry approximately your situation.

    WOAH

    6 Days?

Manic or not, even WITH drugs that a LONG TIME.

You can't get him out if they can make the case that he is a threat to himself or others. He will likely end up being placed in psychiatric care if he does not show signs of improvement after his hearing.

If he isn't considered sane, or an argument can be made that he is not sane, then his signature on anything.... means nothing. What is most important for him right now, is showing signs that he has control of his mind, can execute rational thoughts, and is not a f******* maniac.

This whole situation is nuts. Run away. Jesus.

  • People who talk that they will kill themselves seldom really do it. That is all what i can say to that theme
