Spanish is ONE language, just as English, one English language.

There are grammar rules, they are taught exactly the same in Spain as well as in Argentina, Mexico, or any other Spanish speaking country. Standard Spanish is taught in schools , colleges, and universities all over the world. The educated speak, and write standard Spanish, this is true of any Spanish speaking country. Their doctors, attorneys, professors, engineers, philosophers, poets, and other educated individuals will use standard Spanish.

Some use a variety of the Spanish language characteristic to an area, or social class.

Accents are different, some vocabulary is different, and of course colloquialisms are specific to each country.

It is horrifying what some individuals do with our languages, but let's not blame the language, let's blame those who deliberately bastardize them.

Our schools do not teach "ain't" at school, nor the word "your" (possessive) for "you are", we are taught standard English. This is a simple example of what also happens with the Spanish language.

It is naive to think that all Spaniards speak proper Spanish, just as it is naive to think that everyone in England speaks proper English!

It is also insulting to state that all Americans are illiterate, and only the British teach and speak proper English. Not all Latin Americans use a Spanish dialect, that is rather insulting.
