I just heard the last part of a sentence in a television commercial!
Honestly, agencies get paid thousands of dollars to come up with a commercial, and this is what some agency decided would be a great commercial. WHO are they catering to? The continuing dumbing of America. By the way, I am an American, but this is embarrassing.

Coloquialismos del Caribe:
"cosquillas"
Me da cosquillas ese insecto. (Me da asco, se me paran los pelos, me pongo nerviosa.)
Me da cosquilla de comprarla. (Me da tentación de comprarla.)
Mi hermano me hacia cosquillas cuando era chica.
5 AnswersIdiomas10 years agoPlease translate to Italian, thanks!?
The crux here (in this situation) is to enlighten, not to further confuse the reader.
6 AnswersLingue10 years ago¿Por qué algunos insisten en traducir literalmente?
Traten de traducirlas literalmente, pero recuerden, todo depende del contexto. No nos pidan traducir sin contexto, puede que la traducción no sea la correcta.
Todas quieren decir "se murió"
passed away
departed
bit the dust
checked out
no longer with us
gone south
cashed in his chips
in a better place
kicked the bucket
met his maker
Todas quieren decir "está embarazada"
bun in the oven
expecting
Hay miles, y miles de frases, tal como en español, así es que no traten de traducir todo literalmente, no siempre funciona.
7 AnswersIdiomas1 decade agoWhy are translators taken for granted in this forum?
Some in this forum work as translators, that's how they pay their rent, pay their car payment, and buy food, they give specific answers, yet even when they are selected as the "Best Answer" all they may get is a "tx". Years of experience and skills deserve more than that. Show gratitude, and say a little more than two letters. Others who ask don't even bother to select an answer, is chosen by voters!

1 AnswerAyuda con los estudios1 decade agoWhy don't some people who ask questions select an answer?
I've noticed that others, just as myself, sometimes offer detailed answers, yet the one who asked does not choose the answer, voters do, why is that? We care about our answers, I would think the one who asked would be appreciative. Just curious.
