I think I'm going crazy, what else can I do? ?

I've moved to a new state and have been living here for about 2 years now. I am having trouble finding friends my age(20s) to hang out with when my bf travels for work and I'm alone for a while. Since I live in a retirement city with a bunch of senior citizens, it hasn't been easy for me to meet young ppl. I spend most of my time working and going to school. Lately I've been volunteering to meet ppl, but so far no one. I'm getting discouraged about living in this beautiful yet boring city! I'm tired of fake ppl, I just want 1good friend. I even went online to meet ppl and this girl said she will hang with me and we exchanged numbers but when I txt her, she didn't seem interested.

What more can I do? This is bringing me down do much.

    That has to suck. Try getting a facebook or use one of those find old friend websits. Ummm, unfortunately I'm not in your city(I can tell cause you said it was beautiful) but id be your friend. Try to find people at work to be friends or neighbors or folks at the library. Anywhere. Even a bus stop:) hang in there hun

    nothing is wrong with being alone. i prefer to be alone accually
