Is this a good deal on a Chevy Cobalt 2010?
I was wondering if this was a good deal for a 2010 Chevy Cobalt:
About 11 grand (After the salesman made a deal, it was originally like 13 grand)
for a 4 door sedan, it doesn't have power locks or power windows though, the carfax says there's been no reported accidents, it's had only one owner, and has 46,000 miles on it.
I've read all the safety ratings and such, but in your own opinion how are Cobalts? Personal pros and cons you've noticed?

I looked on a website www.arfc.org/complaints/2010/chevy/cobalt and found a number of complaints for power steering failures specifically for the 2010 year model. I suggest you do a lot more research on this vehicle as this is not a good sign. I also would check www.carcomplaints.com and see what car owners had to write. I took a quick look, and from 2005 to 2010 there were over 600 complaints and while there were only a few in 2010 the problem is that as the mileage gets higher more and more problems seem to crop up. I would not recommend this car I would go look for a toyota a nissan a subaru or a mazda and maybe a honda if you can get a mechanical inspection before buying it may save you an expensive mistake. I checked the price online in the consumer section of www.nada.com and sorry but the dealer is trying to screw you. High retail for that car is 11,400 but you lose 600 for the high miles so 10,800 is high retail and unfortunately the car ain't worth that. I agree with the other answerer 8 grand would be a deal 11 grand is laughable and far too high a price for what I read about the power steering issues.

Roger did a lot of interesting leg work for the Cobalt, but he seems to have missed something: the "steering issue" on Cobalts is a RECALL issue involving the power steering motor - it should have been replaced already under warranty, and if it wasn't, it would be done for free at any dealership. There are other small issues, but in actuality, nothing more than any other vehicle in its class.
In general, the Cobalt rides on a well sorted chassis, it handles on par with the competition (much better, in my opinion, than the Corolla and Hyundai offerings I've driven), and the Ecotec engine in the Cobalt is neither too buzzy at revs (like the Toyota and Hyundai) or underpowered. The interior is a bit on the "excessive plastic" side, but no different than anything but the Civic (which I think has the more refined interior). The seats are pretty comfortable on medium-length trips, and the sedan is great for 4 people (5 will fit, but its a squeeze). Truck volume is surprisingly big, and the back seats fold down to give you the ability to put in bigger things like beach chairs.
I drove them as rentals from the time they came out, and I liked them so much, it motivated me to buy an 09 Cobalt SS/TC sedan new (mind you, the SS/TC is a different animal suspension and engine wise, but the base cars still impressed me to the point of considering them as daily drivers).
Cobalts are very solid cars, and provided the carfax is clean, 46k is a decent mileage-wise for this car. 11k for a non-power window/power lock 'balt - that seems a tiny bit steep to me, though. You may want to try to negotiate for a little more.

If you are working with a General Motors dealership, request to see the service history of the vehicle. This will show you the maintenance and/or repairs that have been performed at a GM dealership.
The vehicle should have the remainder of the Powertrain Limited Warranty. Be sure to talk with them about that too.

Cobalts are ok cars. Reliable enough if you take care of it. Sounds like you bought the LS model. $11K is a bit high, $8K would have been a better price for that stripped down car. I test drove one back in 06 & I ordered one, but backed out of it after the delaer started to screw with me. I'm no fool ya know. Anyway, you'll do fine with that car. Just take care of it. Plenty of life left in it.

A Chevy Cobalt was formerally called a Cavalier. Cheap, weak, disposable cars that are NOT worth that much money, no matter how you look at it.
