Botanically it is the Clintonia borealis, a monocot with parallel veins in the leaves. Monocots have vascular bundles of phloem & xylem tissue are scattered in a dense pattern around the central cylinder of the stem in such a way they nearly from a ring. The bundles are segments of a fibrovascular tube with branching veins to the foliage at nodes.
