Job interview / criminal record?

Ok , got a job interview this week , the job will entail an enhanced disclosure CRB , I do have my own copy , and yes 3 convictions , all spent , although there is another 1 on there of which I have never been convicted of through the courts and yet is on there ?

I intened to show this crb at the interview stage , 1 ) to save wasting each others time and 2 ) being upfront and honest about it , by the way 1st conviction 1989 , last 1 in 1994 , I have considered typing up an account / summary of explanation to spent convictions , circumstances surrounding these convictions , in order to be honest and upfront , as I believe it does put a different spin on the convictions ? a good idea or not , any ideas / suggestions anyone ?

    Im assuming that you are going for a job either working with children or vunerable adults,It is always good to be as transparent with employers about convictions in regards to the CRB because they will eventually find out, most employers like honesty amongst their employees. Taking in a written statement might be an idea and your CRB to the interview and they may want you to explain what happened and how you have changed or working towards change. If your misdemeanors are drug related they might ask you to do a drug test or you can offer to do one, this shows that you have changed which puts a positive slant on it. You maybe asked to do one if you are driving a company car.

    If you have been working before in the same industry then find people that will vouch for you and Im sure that you will be fine.

    Being open and honest with employers is always the best way to go
