PHYSICS When you pump up a bicycle tire why does the pump get hot?
can somebody explain to me why?
what is acting on it? (heat or work)

When a gas (air) is compressed, it heats up. The air entering your tyre will also be warmer than the outside air, but not as hot as in the barrel of the pump.
The air is suddenly more dense, and the molecules begin to move/ vibrate more rapidly, because they are closer together. The heat is generated by friction.
