Uluru or the Great Barrier Reef?

I'm visiting Australia with my family mid-May to mid-June and we only have time to visit either Uluru or the Reef. Which one would be more worthwhile in visiting? :)

I agree ..The Reef FOR SURE !

Uluru is in the middle of nowhere & once you've seen it , what then ...whereas there are a lot of other things to see & do in North Queensland depending where you go...

If Cairns you can also see the Atherton Tablelands , take the Amazing drive along the tropical coast to Port Douglas & beyond ,see crocs in the wild at Mossman , bungee jump at Kuranda , take a trip in the cable car through the rain forrest canopy at Kuranda..

edit..I don't wish to be disrespectful BUT Kate is totally wrong....the tropics never gets cold & mid year is peak season because the weather is PERFECT...while the far south is cold the north has its best weather ..no rain , no cold & no stingers in the sea !

Barrier Reef. It takes a long time to get to Uluru, its very hot, dry and dusty, and you can't climb to the top of it anymore without insulting the indigenous folks. Much more to see at the Barrier Reef. You can get there from Cairns, North Queensland.

NO contest the GREAT BARRIER REEF!!!

in 2001 i went on a whole trip around Australia including Uluru, the Kings Canyon, Kakadu, Alice Springs and Cairns and the GBR

and if i could go back to any of these I would choose the great barrier reef in a heart beat.

Good thing to go now because of environmental factors the reef is decreasing in size every year.

uluru is really an amazing spot to see, but riddled with japanese and german tourists.

if you do go to the great barrier reef (although i prefer ningaloo reef), make sure you go as far north as you can, i recommend cape tribulation.

The reef. And it's best in winter, not summer.

There's a lot more to do there than snorkelling and diving.

I'd go to Uluru. Although the Reef is AMAZING, its going to be cold. So you wont want to go swimming and the reef is best experienced in summer.
