Once charged, how long do EN-EL5 batteries hold their charge and how long do they last when fully charged?
I'm debating between Nikon's P510 & L810. I really have reservations about a camera that doesn't use AA batteries. When I travel, I take loads & loads of pix, usually keeping my camera on all day, and would hate to run out of charged batteries. Also, sometimes I go a long while not taking pix, then something comes up quickly and I might not have time to charge batteries. Also, any comments on the two cameras I'm looking at would be welcome. I want a mid-size camera, with long zoom, quick focus and that takes good indoor pix. Thanks for any help!!

Batteries, whether they're AA's or propriety like the EN-EL3's, can last from 3 minutes to 3 months depending on the level of charge and capacity of the battery and the manner of usage of the camera by the user.
You should've bought a Pentax.

Battery life depends on temperture/humidity, the amount of chimping you do, the scenes you're shooting, and even how long it takes to compose a shot. My D200 usually gets drained after about 600 shots or so.
