I have to do a social studies activity with preschoolers... ideas!!?

Your best bet may be to combine a read aloud that has pond animals and a social construct as a starting point.

I would recommend 1 Duck Stuck (I think by Phyllis Root?) A social studies lesson that goes with that could be about working together and getting along. A group activity could be having students work together to complete something that one person can't do on their own. Even something simple like dropping a pile of stuff on the floor and asking one student to pick it all up, then asking everyone to pick up 3 things, and discussing what worked better and faster.

I would also suggest In the Small, Small Pond (pretty sure it's by Denise Fleming) with the accompanying lesson using ecology as the basis for the social aspect. A little more of a stretch, but talking about how to take care of the earth, and ponds in particular would be a good social studies lesson. I know it sounds more like a science lesson, but you can gear it toward the social by talking about working together and taking care of others.

I'm not yet a teacher but i do love to teach children. I do agree with the story telling idea first and then come up with a role playing one. It's gonna be fun.

Don't talk about using dinosaurs for transportation. Dinosaurs were LOOONG extinct before humans were ever around. NO human ever saw or rode on a dinosaur!

Maybe do some role playing or story telling on frog and the princess or something.
