Is Devin Ebanks the new Trevor Ariza?
They look alike, have the same number and same build. And they were both drafted in the second round. Beyond that, they both are lanky, athletic defenders, and similar to Ariza when he got traded to the Lakers, Ebanks jump shot has improved. I think that Ariza has a little more range than Ebanks at this point and may be a better overall scorer at this point. But Ebanks has gotten better. When World Peace returns, added to Ebanks and Barnes, small forward will be one of the Lakers' strongest positions. Each of them will be used on (most likely) Durant in the next series.

You already answered your own question lol.
To add to your analysis, Ebanks is also the "behind the scene" guy who can steal the ball pretty well in a much needed situation (for example the last Laker game against Okc) just like Trevor's role while he was a Laker. He even looks alot like Ariza for some reason if you look at it lol.

what made trevor great for the lakers was his 3-point shooting, the ability to space the floor. If you watched Ariza, he would only really make shots when he had his feet set, toes pointed in, and could just catch and shoot. if he had to make a move, or his feet were not set in that specific way, he would not really make shots. also, trevor's hustle and energy and defense were important as well
ebanks isn't near the same shooter ariza was, but his hustle is good and he plays good defense
i doubt we'll get the production out of him we got with ariza, but he's been a good player

Sure I remember the SI cover back in 2009. Ariza had a great series against Melo's Nuggets and then into the Finals he shut down Turkoglu. Someone needs to be the 2.0 version of Michael Cooper. Hustling defender who can turn the heat up on the better3's. Yes, World Peace does his best Rodman impression, but a better throwback would be Coop. He sure was putting a shadow over Larry Legend in the NBA finals.

Yeah but Ebanks isn't the defender that Ariza was. They're about even offensively, Ariza was maybe a tad bit better

I agree with what Sir Lakers said. You pretty much answered your own question. While Ebanks cannot defend as well as Ariza, he does look like him and can shoot pretty well, though Ebanks struggles with his long range shots.

Just because he is black and where the same number 3 doesn't mean he is the new Trevor.
