would it be more environmentally beneficial to make ethanol out of palm dates instead of corn?
they say it takes a lot of energy to make corn ethanol, i was thinking that palm dates might be more efficient.

Why would you use something so wastfull and damaging as bio-fuel when their is not and never has been an actual fuel shortage, only deliberate manipulation of the markets, number of refineries, and the public to make people believe they are paying a fair price.

In tropical regions, huge areas of rain forest are burned to the ground to make way for palm trees that are grown to produce fuel. So efficient or not, corn is preferable over palm.

Or just use sugar cane which is grown in coastal regions and doesn't require cutting rainforest and is a vastly more efficient way to do it.
