lawn mower only starts with a screw driver whats wrong?
it has to be simple,,cough so whats that say about me??? hmmmm back to question, turn key nothing happens jump solenoid with screwdriver and starts rigjht up, thinking need to put a sbf in there and just hotwire it,lol,does anyone remember how to hotwire a car?????

Check the safety switches before you start hot wiring things.
Aslo the key switch, and MAKE SURE PTO SWITCH IS OFF!!!!! MOWER BLADES ARE NOT ENGAGED!!!!!!!!

It could be a bad starter solenoid. Or it could be the brake/clutch pedal safety switch. Also could be the ignition switch. With the key in the start position you should get 12 volts to the small wire on the solenoid. If you do, than suspect the solenoid. If you don't get 12 volts to the small wire than you have to suspect either the clutch/brake switch or the igintion switch.

Well it sure sounds like the ignition switch or the wire connections are the culprit here.
