Stick shift or automatic?
Im 16 years old, just got my licence a month ago, and i currently have my moms 2010 white VW jetta SE.
The thing is that when my brother who is 14 turns 16, my mom and i agreed to pass down the jetta to him, requiring me to buy a new car. The car i would get should prefferably be under 20k and i would like for it to be sporty.
I have been looking at different cars and have made a list of a few that have stood out to me in price, performance, and quality:
-2005 chrysler crossfire SRT-6
-2006 ford mustang v8
-2004 nissan 350z
-2007 Volkswagen GTI
-2004 Infinity G35
Now the thing is that all of those cars are availible in manual stick shift, and me being a car guy, would love to have more control of my car and manual just seems like more of an experience and more fun. So what's your opinion? Should i get a manual or automatic? Have any other nice looking sporty cars that you could suggest to me?
Any help and opinions are appreciated, thanks. :)

there are a mass of sporty cars out there in automatic form which are rapid and offer great control over when the gear changes and to what type of gear changes the box offers ie a sports mode to a bad weather mode and so on.
Please don't go down the road of a manual car is always going to be more fun else a manual 1.0l Ford Escort is going to be more fun than an Automatic Ferrari Enzo or an automatic type Buggati Veryron which we know is not going to be.
Def look at going the stick route but do not class a grannies automatic mpv the same as a sporty auto type box and most people have driven an automatic box and not liked them, yet there are a mass out there which differ per vehicle and as said many automatics offer extra contol buttons as well as choosing gear changes with the pedal.

Nice selections in there, maybe only the GTI stands back from the other, Manual is the way to go, brand new cars its ok automatic too, but used ones, especially that much used 2005, I wouldn't go with automatic.
you can use a car performance simulator[1] to help you decide, there you can virtually have all that cars and run comparison tests to get unbiased data!

Stick shift gives better control of the car, more reliable, and fun to drive. Automatics are widely available and more convenient to drive

i would be thinking about an automatic so i can steer with my left and my right hand can hold my girl up tight.
