How does a bail bondsman make money?

Is it like being a loan shark? If one client doesn't pay, do you send another one of your clients after them? What's the average client like?

A bail bondsman puts up the amount of bail the judge orders and the person who needs the bail pays the bail bondsman 10 percent of the amount of the bail for the bail bondsman to post the bail. The money the bail bondsman makes is the 10 percent on each bail bond and when someone skips bail the bail bondsman had better find the person for trial or the entire amount of bail will have to be paid to the court by the bail bondsman. When one has a million dollar bail set the amount of bail the person has to pay the bail bondsman is 10 percent or $100 thousand dollars. Were a bail bondsman to have three million dollar bails in one year the income for the three bails would be $300 thousand dollars for just the three bails. Not a bad salary as long as someone doesn't skip bail.
