Have a cat who seems to be losing his hearing...?

Does anyone have any good ideas of how to help him with this? I've clapped my hands behind him, banged on things.....no reaction, unless he happens to SEE what I'm doing.

Sometimes, he'll sit in one place and HOWL.......and one of the other cats will run over and "get in his face", which causes him to stop. At night, when he does this, I'll shine a flashlight toward him, and it seems to help him realize that he's not alone.........

Any advice will be appreciated........Thanks........

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2108978_happily-communicat... - this might help.

Can you use a small plug in night light that turns itself on at dusk and off at dawn. Will that help the cat know it isn't alone?

sounds like he has already lost his hearing. a cat that is deaf or goin deaf, will howl louder than normal because it can not tell how loud it is. Get you cat checked by a vet, they will have the best advice for you.

is your cats ears are clean? if not just clean his ears. also if that will not work take him to the vet medically to see if your cat didnt lose his hearing.

    Good luck.
