Can a Paypal Student account recieve gift money?
Rather than having the parent account send money to the child account, could you have someone else gift money to your student account?

A PayPal student account is under COMPLETE control of the parent account. It can't send or receive ANYTHING without consent by the parent. Even if money is sent to the student account, it is held in the parent account until the parent transfers it elsewhere.
