In 1724 Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first mercury thermometer. Obviously to accurately measure temperature.

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit was a German inventor .He invented it in 1714 Mercury Thermometer .
1709 -Alcohol Thermometer
1724 - He introduced standard temperature scale.
1742, the Celsius scale was invented
Invention was a gradual process to measure the temperature coming way back from 1593 AD of rudimentary water Thermoscope by Galileo to measure variation of Temperature in water.
