Yes, you could use it for basic Freeview if you already have a dish. Putting one up require a bit of knowledge and patients but anyone can do it.Plenty of help on You Tube.

To be of any use it needs to be connected to a sat dish pointed at Astra, and have a valid Sky card in it. A Freesat card probably won't allow recording and playback
