Are you against killing animals?

I don't know about you but if a stray or domestic dog came into my yard I'd grab my 12 gauge and blast him/her away. Im protecting my own property and most Dogs that came into my yard as a child were vicious little bastards. What's your opinion on the question and my statement?

    No

I have a friend who lives in the hill country and they shoot feral cats all the time when they come onto their property because the feral and strays are a massive threat to their poultry and the cats spread parasites and diseases

If you live in the county you can legally shoot any dog who comes onto your property and you feel its a threat o your property, your live stock or you children. Scarring it off isn't going to work.

I am all for protecting yourself from an eminent threat, but just because a dog is on your property, it doesn't make it a threat. It could be friendly, it could just be someOnes lost pet. Animal control is a better option unless you or someone else is in eminent danger ( like a vicious dOg cornering or chasing someone)

I have no problem with hunting (as long as it is done humanely and all of the meat is taken).

I have no problem with kill shelters, too many unwanted animals make them a necessity.

Also, I hope you are a good shot and you live out in the country. Bird shot might not kill or kill right away, and leaving any animal to run off and die a slow death is unacceptable. A slug would do it but it's more likely that you could do serious damage to something else.

shooting an animal is not the way forward. you should call animal control to come and deal with the dog.

it could be someones beloved pet, who has escaped from their yard because someone accidentally left the gate open, and would never dream of hurting a person or other animal.

If the animal hasn't actually hurt, or tried to hurt anyone, then why on earth does it deserve to be shot for wandering in to someones yard?
